How do you feed your soul and create the life that you REALLY want to live?

September 12, 20212 min read

Whenever I used go to visit my grandfather, when I would say goodbye to leave, he always said to me something super straight forward and fairly simple. I would tell him how much I loved him and he would look at me and simply say, "Enjoy Your life". This is something that has apparently stuck with me, as I spend time now regularly reflecting on how to weave together the tapestry of the life that I want. I've been fortunate to live many lives in this body. I've lived in 9 states and have identified in various positions among several professions. At one time, I was a musician touring in a band across the country; I've been a farmer, a white-water raft guide, an equestrian guide, as well as a non-profit executive. Most of you probably know me as a yoga teacher and as of the past several years, an entrepreneur and a massage therapist.

As I come closer to the age of 40, I've decided to weave together a tapestry of all the things that I want most in my life. I'd like to invite you to spend some time doing the same.

My personal practice, and philosophy, is to incorporate as many threads as I can that I consider to be "life-giving". This practice requires carving out space - letting go of some things that aren't as "life-giving" to pave a way for what is. Sometimes I call these things my "soul-food". These are activities that truly feed my soul. Recently, for exclusively "life-giving soul food" purposes, I started working at a ranch leading trail guides 2 days a week. Working with horses is a strong thread in my tapestry that has carried me from time to time. So my question for you is,

Which threads of your life do you want to start weaving together?

Is there a dusty instrument in the closet or a blank canvas on an easel somewhere? What do you want AND who do you want to become? I invite you to spend some time thinking about this idea and visioning your life. Feel free to read inspiring poetry or quotes, journal, and reflect on this.

What do you consider to be your "soul-food"?

What is "life-giving" to you?

And how can you incorporate more of those things into this one precious life that we have to live?
